Once a part of Head Start, you are a part of the CSC family and network of programs, all of which your Head Start Family Advocate can help connect you with. The Alaska Head Start Association (AHSA) is dedicated to strengthening early learning programs through advocacy, education, and leadership.AHSA represents all 16 Head Start programs in Alaska, creating a unified voice and point of contact for partners and policymakers. In addition to regular family meetings at each site, we have one-on-one home and school visits for individualized care. Our Head Start Policy Council, which families are welcome to be elected to, meets monthly to learn and take part in the governance of our program. Parents and family are children’s first teachers – we work closely with families in the structure of our program and each child’s individual plan. Our program is comprehensive, understanding that health, nutrition, and learning go hand in hand. Head Start provides educational, emotional, and social support for high-risk children and their families, in center and home based settings, in centers. We consider the “whole child”, their learning styles, health, and any special needs they may have. We know that every child is unique, so that is where we start. ![]()
